As most know, fall happens to be one of my most beloved seasons. I can’t decide if it’s the chunky sweaters, cute boots or pumpkin spice lattes that win me over. Which ever it is, when it comes to looking presentable in the morning; basic is always better. This is what inspired me to put together this look book for you.
What’s so great about having a neutral sweater is that you can pair absolutely anything with it. After many minutes of my life scrolling through Pinterest and Tumblr, I’ve seen it all (I think) when it comes to cable knit beige sweaters. This time around, I thought I’d keep it simple pair it with a chunky necklace (my loves!) and a solid colour jacket. A scarf could also be an easy win.
It took me a while to get into midi-rings. The concept seemed ridiculous. I remember the first time I bedazzled my fingers, it was before a trip to the mall. I left with 7 and came home with 4. Where the others ones went…I will never know. Nonetheless, I’ve accepted their boho-ness and are now completely in love with them.
As for the jeans, I believe every girl should own a solid pair of the “boyfriend jean.” Not only are they the most comfortable pant you could wear (other than yoga pants, my fellow Vancouverites), but they are also super stylish. They are a jean where you could pair them with a chuck taylor, flat, heel, or bootie. I did spend more than I wanted to for this pair, but what sold me what how well they fit my figure. I’ve tried on multiple boyfriends in multiple stores, but it was at Plenty where I finally found the “Cinderella” fit.
“I have problems because I’m very expressive, and usually red lipstick gets on my teeth and face.” – Jessica Chastain
I only started wearing a bold red recently, because I couldn’t get the concept of applying it perfectly. It’s a challenge and I’m being completely honest. By the time I line my lips and apply the darn thing; it’s been a good few times over and over. My lip Idol (and yes I have one) hands down is my beautiful friend lttltox. Just like Jessica Chastain, I absolutely experience the same problem. Maybe it’s because I laugh like a troll, naturally smile like the cheshire cat and eat like a caveman…
Anyways, over the years I’ve bought cheap reds thinking they’d look good on me when they actually don’t. This time around, I said “no” to spontaneous shopping and actually went to get help. Yes, Help. Sephora to the rescue! I simply walked into the store, totally clueless. All I knew and had in mind was the word berry. Well, voila! After sampling 5 different shades on my hand, I found the right one. Who knew it would be so simple?!
